Re:         Update on Downsizing in TEAM's Jurisdiction

As part of Bell’s cross-Canada reduction of its workforce by approximately 700 management positions, a voluntary departure initiative was announced in September for TEAM members working in specified positions.  The Company’s goal was to reduce the number of positions in TEAM by up to 27.  The process concluded yesterday with the Company unfortunately deeming it necessary to issue layoff notices to five TEAM members.  TEAM staff have reached out to the impacted members to discuss their options.

In total, 40 TEAM members applied on this VRTIP, of which 23 were accepted, including 15 from the targeted positions.  For various reasons, including business and skill requirements, the Company felt it was not possible to redeploy the laid off individuals to any of the positions from which 17 VRTIP applications were denied.

During this period, we understand that combined from IBEW, Unifor, and non-unionized roles, over 40 positions were also lost.
